Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to see my GP before I can have private Physiotherapy?
No, a Doctors referral is not required before you see a Chartered Physiotherapist. However if you have private medical insurance some companies do require a Doctors referral, so please check with your insurance company before making an appointment.
Will Physiotherapy help me?
If you are not sure you are welcome to contact us and speak to a Physiotherapist to discuss any issues prior to making an appointment. We can be contacted on 01279 726228 / 07983 333 029 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Will you be able to tell me what my problem is?
As Chartered Physiotherapists we are trained to perform a comprehensive physical assessment of the musculoskeletal system and give a clinical diagnosis. We will also discuss with you any factors which may have lead to your problem.
How many treatments will I need?
There is no set number of treatments for a particular condition as every patient is an individual and is treated as such. However, following your initial assessment the Physiotherapist will discuss with you the anticipated number of treatments. Any treatment given is carefully monitored for effectiveness and is adjusted or altered to obtain optimum effect in the minimum amount of time.
How quickly can I be seen?
You can usually be seen within 24 - 48 hours. Sometimes same day appointments are available.
What should I expect on my first visit?
You will be asked a series of questions about your problem and about your general health, followed by a physical examination to determine the clinical diagnosis. The Physiotherapist will discuss with you any factors that may have lead to your problem and a proposed individual treatment plan. If you are in agreement with this plan, treatment will start immediately.
Can I use my private medical insurance?
You may be able to use your health insurance to pay for private Physiotherapy treatment. Before booking an appointment you should check with your health insurance provider to make sure you are covered and to clarify the process, as each policy is different. Maltings Physiotherapy Practice is recognised by most insurance companies.
What should I wear?
You are advised to wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a pair of shorts to change into for the assessment of lower limb problems. Your modesty will be respected at all times.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, you are welcome to bring a partner or friend along to accompany or chaperone you during your visits.
Where can I park?
There is ample free parking (for up to 2 hours) available on site.
